Full-time Chartering Director

at Freight Force AG in Zug CH

Job location: Zug, Switzerland

The Chartering Director is a role based in Zug, Switzerland, accountable for the end to end freight fixture process. As a Chartering Director, you will be expected to source the optimal shipping solution for your cargo, maximizing potential earnings in the most cost effective manner. This could involve liaising directly with Ship Owners to find out when ships are open and without cargo to carry, or dealing with Ship Brokers as intermediaries with the same information. Seeking profitable trading opportunities around existing freight sales. Actively research and participate in markets/flows of focus, to contribute to discussions in market evolution and to predict forward freight rate. Role requires to be self-motivated, well organised and be able to work independently.

Major Tasks
• You will negotiate and book cargoes and contracts.
• You will be Fixing vessels on both voyage and time charter and making commercial decisions and negotiations.
• You will research information from the freight market through communication with brokers and owners assessing freight levels and projecting freight levels.
• You will evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and/or to determine the need for changes.
• You will research and evaluate trading partners based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production, distribution capabilities
• You will keep regular contact with customers, freight and commodity traders, brokers, agents and owners to keep abreast of the developments of the contract, helping foresee opportunities and risks, and building strong relationships
• You will update the ERP and other systems: Timeliness and Accuracy.
• You will be a source of expertise for the junior staff and assist them as needed.
• You will identify process gaps and propose corrective and improvement actions.
• You will participate in projects, prepare presentations, and actively share knowledge
• You will own an overall accountability on contract P&L.
• University degree in Shipping / Naval Academy or similar
• Fluent Russian – mother tongue preferred
• Fluent English – spoken and written
• Minimum 20 years of experience in chartering
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Team player , mature, self-motivated, able to work under pressure and meet tight timeliness
• Pro-active with high attention to detail
• Computer literate
• Organization agility
• Ability to adapt to new situations and work effectively, under pressure, in a changing environment

Preferred qualifications
• University degree in Shipping / Naval Academy or similar
• Minimum 20 years experience on similar position
• Dry bulk vessels experience is a must
